Geological relevance of location
Schwarzerde (FAO Chernozem) is formed beneath steppe vegetation in a continental, semi-humid climate. The parent material is loess, from which a thick layer of humic topsoil has formed. This type of soil is mostly used for field crops, owing to its high fertility.
