Political relevance of location
The Colbitz Letzlingen heath is holding a groundwater reservoir of regional importance. Since parts of the area are used for military training and claimed for ecological preservation, the various users interests came into conflict. Therefore, the status of groundwater quality and dynamics were intensively assessed and a long-term monitoring programme installed. - This sample collected near a former fuel tank resulted not to be contaminated.
