Historical relevance of location
In the 15th and 17th and 18th century Bernburg was residence of the ruler of Saxony-Anhalt. Bernburg has been a center of the potash and soda industry in Germany since the second half of the 19 th century.
Geological relevance of location
This roestone is a limestone with sandy binding agent. The separate small spheres are 2 mm in size and were formed near the sea coast around a nucleus of crystallization.
