Geological relevance of location
Copper shale is a bituminiferous marly shale with up to 3 percent copper and other elements (silver, zinc, lead, iron). The exploitation began in the Middle Agees, and the copper shale was the important \"supplier\" for copper in Germany. However, today there is no more copper mining in Eisleben.
